AMEP Research Centre

Research Projects

The AMEP Research Centre initiated, coordinated and disseminated research work relevant to English language teaching and learning until the end of 2009. As well as carrying out research on-site, the Centre served as a national focal point for work conducted within the national Adult Migrant English Program. As part of its annual Special Projects Research Program funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, the Centre oversaw a variety of national projects concerned with aspects of teaching and learning in the AMEP and also performed a consultative role in locally-based AMEP projects.

The research conducted and supported by the AMEP Research Centre ranged from large scale empirical investigations to smaller-scale qualitative studies of individual classrooms. We attached considerable importance to teacher-conducted research studies which are problem-focused and aimed at improving practice.
